Holistic Care Questions

WHY IS MASSAGE BENEFICIAL FOR ME?

Massage has been around since ancient times, often known as a sacred system of natural healing. Massage benefits can include reducing stress and increasing relaxation, reducing pain, muscle tension and soreness, improving circulation, alertness, energy and function of the immune system.

While more research in our field is necessary, some studies have found massage also beneficial for soft tissue injuries including sprains, strains and other injuries, fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, headaches, insomnia, chronic upper/lower back pain and chronic neck pain. It can also help benefit and manage a wide variety of other conditions.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST TREATMENT?

That's the easy part ! No preparation is needed!

Upon arrival, I will bring you into my house and downstairs into my therapy room where you will fill out a health history intake and a client consent form. Client consent forms will be required prior to every treatment. These can also be emailed and printed off/filled out by the client prior to arrival upon request. All documents and sessions are deemed confidential and in no way will your personal information ever be shared without written consent. After the intake and consent, you will be instructed on how to undress and position on the table. You will be draped for comfort and security at all times. After this, our session will begin!

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY FIRST SESSION?

After your allotted time frame is up, you will be given instructions on how to get off the table. Laying flat for long periods of time can affect your blood pressure, which can cause a light-headed feeling upon getting up. You will be instructed to take your time getting up and getting dressed. You will be feeling relaxed, your circulation will be flowing alot better and your muscles should feel like jello from the released tension. Staying hydrated helps flush out the toxins inside your body that were just loosened up with your muscles, so drinking water to flush out you rkidneys and organs is very important. Deep rooted muscle tension release can often leave muscles feeling sore after treatment or the day after. Using ice will help the inflammation deep in the tissue. Over the counter products like icy-hot can often be counter productive as the muscle is already warm. Warm Epsom salt baths can also be beneficial for easing stress and promoting relaxation, improving muscle and nerve function and eliminating toxins from the body.
